![]() ![]() Our first gameplay look came via Imgur (though now deleted) that showed some playtest pictures, and while it looks a little rough around the edges, it does show that Redfall development appears to be coming along nicely. There was also a flare gun that made short work of them. The vampires seemed quite tanky, and many needed to be finished off with a well-placed headshot, or a stake to the heart. The aforementioned gameplay reveal trailer showed off the first-person combat against the vampires and humans, highlighting the use of guns in both close-quarters and long-range combat. ![]() We also see some of the unique abilities the characters possess, such as Layla who uses telekinesis to aid her allies' mobility, and Remi who has a little robot that can incapacitate enemies. There’s a comedic tone that brings some levity to the seriousness and horror of the vampires that is shown through the characters' banter, reminiscent of Left 4 Dead and the more recent Back 4 Blood. This was emphasised in some of the more recent trailers, like the official gameplay reveal from the 20222 Xbox and Bethesda Games showcase. In it, we see the four characters investigating some cult activity in the town, before being caught and forced into a fight with vampires and their seemingly human soldiers. Some rumors just before Redfall's announcement revealed that its internal development name is "Omen".The first Redfall trailer debuted at the Xbox conference during E3 2021, and was a cinematic trailer that highlighted the general premise of the game and the playable characters. The Redfall trademark was registered by Bethesda in 2018, shortly after Arkane Austin released the Prey Mooncrash DLC. ![]() The creative directors behind Redfall are Harvey Smith (Creative Director for Dishonored) and Ricardo Bare (Lead Level Designer on Prey, Creative Director for Mooncrash). Deathloop (Arkane's other upcoming game) is made by Arkane Lyon, which recently worked on the Dishonored series and the level design for Wolfenstein Youngblood. Redfall is made by Arkane Austin, the studio behind Prey 2017 and its DLCs. It will also be possible to make a solo character build. These details may change in the final release.Įach hero character will reportedly have their own backstories that will be explored in the game as part of the campaign. In gameplay leaks we learned his three abilities are: "Raven" (for scouting?), "Cloak" (invisibility), and "Heartstopper" (deadeye?). Bribón has a turret gun but it's unknown if it can be upgraded. Remi de la Rosa - Has a combat robot companion named "Bribón" ("Rascal"/"Sly Dog"/"Bastard" in spanish). She can also create an inverted column of gravity similar to the "Lift" ability in Prey 2017. One of her weapons is an umbrella that she can use to project a massive force field. Layla Ellison - Has telekinetic powers, sounds similar to sirens from BL. Interestingly, his stake gun seems to use two types of ammo (wooden stakes and hollow pipes). Might have a lot of utility guns similar to the GLOO gun from Prey 2017 (like the stake gun seen in the trailer). The Bethesda article describes them in more detail with a general idea of what their gameplay might be like:ĭevinder Crousley - An inventor type, unknown what his ability is. Each has their own unique abilities, although it's been said that all characters can use the same weapons. The four vampire hunters shown in the trailer will be the playable characters. ![]()
